Frederick Pain Train
OVERVIEW:
Welcome Back Boys!!! It’s that time of year again…Training Camps are just around the corner and the magazines are flying off the shelf at your local bookstore/grocery store.
When/Where: Friday, August 21st @ 7:00 PM East Coast Time (Vogel's House for those local)
The following morning we will hit the links and finish up at Wag's for lunch...let us know who plans on attending.
As usual we have made a couple anticipated changes to the league but I think we are officially on the cusp of getting it perfect (that's a welcome relief for all, I'm sure). Below are the changes:
- THREE keepers on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball
- Starting line-ups will include TWO flexes on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball
- Clearly, starting line-ups go to 18 players and our roster limits will increase to 33 + 3 Injured reserves giving a total of 36 players (last year was 30+2)
1. Nothing "undercover" about AD on draft night!
2. Deadly Dumb and Dangerous...could be death if Julius is available in the 5th
3. 100% Brain's Daddy
4. The clock struck midnight, Cinderella...it's 2009!
5. What's the "flava-of-the-month," Richard...Kevin Walters or LeRon McClain?
6. The one, the only, THE BRAIN (aka - Juice's B-Squad!)
7. Luckier than David Tyree! Look it up Conley...
8. ReUNITED - Kyle Orton and B-Dawk in Bronco Country?
9. Led by AARP's finest QB - how long can you wait for Leinart?
10. Clubhouse leader (in his own mind!) Not much to love about possible suspensions and this season's Marion Barber...you'll find a way to spin it, though.
Starting Line-ups need to be entered through the website by 5 minutes before the start of each player's game! Positions are determined through NFL.com.
Starting Line-up requirements…
1 Quarterback
2 Running Backs
3 Wide Receivers
1 Tight End
2 Flex Positions (RB, WR, or TE)
1 Kicker
2 Defensive Linemen
2 Linebackers
2 Defensive Backs
2 Flex Positions (DL, LB, or DB)

Everyone will have a number of decisions to make with respect to multiple keepers in the same round so we've put an example below...
UCB keeps the following in 2009 (2008 rounds in parenthesis)...
Osi - 22nd (Free Agent counts as 24th)
Lights Out - 21st (Free Agent counts as 24th)
Witten - 20th (22nd)
Colston - 18th (2oth)
Thomas - 15th (18th)
Jared Allen - 10th (13th)
I had to decide between Osi and Merriman which guy would be my later pick since they were both counted as a 24th rounder in 2008.

o League dues are $65 for the season - paid draft night!
o Every drop is $1.00
o Every add is $1.00
o Every received player in a trade is $1.00.
o Waiver wire - We will continue the "Auction Format" for WW additions just like last year. Unless there is an objection, Tuesday at 9:00pm is when the Waivers will be assigned. At the close of WW, remaining players are deemed “Free Agents” and may be picked-up at 9:30 EST/8:30 ChiTown Time Tuesday night. You may bid up to $10 but will only be charged 50 cents more than the competing, high bidder. If you bid $10 – you better be prepared to pay the $10, right D&D? It’s the chance that only you decide to take… Sometimes you’ll be lucky and get him cheap. Other times you’ll get stuck paying $10 bucks for a perennial back-up like Betts. Or sometimes you’ll be Brain and pick-up a guy not in the league but had studly high school stats!
Pay-outs will be paid at the end of the fantasy season and will be structured like this…as always, these payouts represent the floor and will be adjusted as D&D empties the checking account for every available TE! Speaking of which, all additional monies will be evenly split between the Super Bowl Champ and the Total Points Champ...we've listened to some of you and despite wanting to spread the wealth a bit there is a lot to be said for competing for a bigger payday!

(determined by week 16 match-up)
Overall finances…
Total income (based on dues only) = $650
Website cost = $150
Leaves us with $500 to start
Other, yet-to-be-determined income sources…
Drops/Adds - $1.00 for each action
Traded players received - $1.00 each
Waiver Wire - winning bidder pays as little as $1.00 up to $10.00
Eighth Stop: Injured Reserve
Any player placed on injured reserve (IR) must not play for the week's game. Since there is a plethora of conflicting information out there regarding injury status, you have to decide the risk of keeping/placing someone on the IR. IF a player is on the IR and plays that week, that player is placed on the Waiver Wire, no questions asked. We do not want the IR to be used in unfair (hoarding) ways and ultimately this is the most fair way of deciding its use.

In fact, in 2009 we have upped the IR to 3 players because last year there are legit times when guys have lots of guys banged up...
Final Stop: Inevitable Issues
We will have something come up during the course of the season that causes a bit of confusion. As thorough as we've been, there are always gaps/holes. Any questions or concerns regarding our league should be made known as soon as you see a potential problem. The commissioners will make every effort to rectify the situation while incorporating everyone's input; however, in the event we (Senuta and Vogel) deem it necessary to decide, we will.
Good luck to everyone this year and remember that trash talk is part of the game…no hard feelings.
Now, let the race for 3rd place begin!
