Those words are music to my ears! All except the SchoolGirls part... But despite the imperfection of the title of this post, there's no ignoring the fact that PE will be printing his off season depth charts this weekend. That's how close we really are! All that preparation. The online mock drafts that you screwed up for everyone else because you're not drafting guys kept in our league and select Ryan Mathews ahead of MJD. You're such a jerk, Rick. The reality that despite the clock ticking, time still stands still when Juice is on the clock! Those boys are why draft night is such a make or break night for all of us. You have put the time in. You expect to stand in front of the board just after midnight listening to everyone else call you the favorite while reminiscing about how you picked Antonio Gates right before somebody else. But the pain lies in the moments when you're driving home thinking about missed opportunities and risky roster spots. That, my friends, is why you get those nerves each time you look for the sticker, cooly annunciate your pick's name, and firmly slap it under your name on the board. But somehow you forget to actually enter the pick on the website and end up screwing up the flow of the next couple of picks. Cool, calm, and collected? I think not.
So what's the point of this, you ask? Nothing actually. Just my unique way of reminding you of the importance of putting yourself in a position to be successful on August 13th. Control the things you can. Do the work now. Don't rely on your gut. Leave past selections in the past. 2010 is a new season. Don't screw it up!
SchoolGirls - you are officially on the clock! Bet all that talk of AP getting more catches has moved the needle a bit...you can't screw up the first pick because you'll have 19 picks to think about it let alone focus on who the hell you need to grab at 20 and 21.
